Film Title Development

After we had decided upon the storyline for my film we began to think about potential film titles, I came up with these.....
The Room Mate - We thought this would be an appropriate for the film because of a new room mate was about to join the other characters in film as they couldn't pay the rent. As this may make the characters sound young in the film. The audience might think that they are in university and think that the film might just be another teenage horror film. We didn't want that to give that type of message to the audience. The name starting with 'The' may sound very demanding and like the character is very unique.
Where She Goes - This title for the film just tells the audience what the film might be based on. I believe this gives most of the information away to the audience, but at the same time this made sense for the character as where ever the girl goes, something evil will follow. So this will give the audience an insight of the story before even watching the film or the trailer of the film. This also tells the audience that the evil charcter will be human rather then being something fiction, as more people might prefer a human evil character rather something fiction which a lot of horror films do use but in my survey results, it showed my that the audience would prefer a human evil character.
Demons Lurk - By thinking of this title, this tells the audience straight away that the film is a horror film. Also it represents that demons will be near to the characters and that they are being discreet. By using 'Lurk' in the title shows that they know the demons are not wanted and are trying to keep each other hidden from the demons.
The House Guest - Last of all we thought of this name, this name sounds very good and fits perfectly with the storyline of the film. The title linking with the horror genre as the audience will be able to tell by the name that this is a horror film. Also by looking at my survey, a lot of my audience like this name as they think this sounds very creepy and fits right for the horror film name. This name is very unique and portrays each of the characters in the film. By telling friends the storyline and asking them which one fits the film, most of them said this one as it very creepy and links to horror genre.

Perkins And Dyers Theory

Tessa Perkins says that stereotyping is not a simple process, she identified that some of the many ways that stereotypes are assumed to operate are not true. She says that they are not always negative, they aren't always about minority groups or those less powerful, they are not always false - supported by empirical evidence and at last they are not always rigid and unchanging. Perkins argues that if stereotypes were always so simple then they would not work culturally. Telling the audience how women are represented very different to men in horror film, how women need a make character to save them from the evil in a film.
Dyer details that if we are able to be told that we are going to see a film about an alcoholic then we will know that it will be a tale either of sordid decline or of inspiring redemption. He says that this is a particularly interesting potential use of stereotyping, as which the characters are constructed, at the level of Mise En Scene. As a stereotype but is deliberately given a narrative function that is not implicit in the stereotypes, this throwing into question the assumption signalled by the stereotypical iconography. Dyer says that they are more recognizable stereotypes of non-white racial groups, the proletariat and women in society. The media is very selective in what like to express to and portray to audience and the media uses a upper class ideology and collective census to see what can be shown to the audience in UK and around the world. Meaning that the audience do not have power over what they can consume from the media. They are being controlled by the media to fit the ideology of upper class as they are the ones who are controlling the media.
